I graduated from San Diego State University (go Aztecs! & the new home of former Padre Tony Gwynn as the new baseball coach) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. I took the Controller's position with a mid-sized life insurance company after graduation. During my five years there, I learned more about Taxes & Investing than anyone could in College. What a baptism by fire that was!

After being caught in the late '80's downsizing craze, I passed the IRS exam (11 hours - 2 days long) earning my Enrolled Agents license. This is the only Federally administered Tax Professional designation. The testing is very difficult & the continuing education & ethics requirements are quite stringent and as a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents & the Washington State Society of Enrolled Agents & the California Society of Enrolled Agents, the requirements are even tougher.
